As bridal shower cake designs tend to be less traditional than wedding cake designs this is your opportunity to get creative and shine. Of course, do first check (perhaps with the bride's mother) as to the bride's favorite flavor. •Petit Fours:
The name petit four is French and means "small oven". Petit fours are usually square or rectangular sponge cakes (approx. 1.5 inches square and 1.5 inches high) and embellished with fondant which can be ordered in a variety of colors and designs.

Petit fours are great for variety and creativity. You can have various flavors to please most tastes, and you can play around with the designs, perhaps putting the bride's initials on top.

•Cupcake bridal cakes:

These offer the same possibilities as petit fours but in your traditional cupcake design.
A creative design is to display the cupcakes on a pyramid stand. The cupcakes can also be decorated to resemble the bride, bridesmaids and guests, with the 'bride cupcake' at the summit.


•Transferred image onto a cake:
There are some bakeries that can transfer an image onto the icing, perhaps a picture of the bride alone or with her bridesmaids, or as you please!


•Lingerie bridal cake:
A bridal cake shaped like a bodice, corset or lingerie set. Perfect for a bridal lingerie party.

Remember: order well in advance as some bakeries will have a waiting list, and inform the bakery as to the number of guests as this will give them a better idea as to the size of the cake required, or the total number of petit fours or cupcakes required.

You can also order a cake cutter to accompany the bridal shower cake and even have it initialed with the bridesmaid's names or initials. A lovely keepsake for the bride.
